I’m sure you have heard of individuals making a fashion statement, I do however doubt you have seen or heard of one quite like this before.
Earlier this week, the world of fashion took an interesting turn with the most unusual collaboration between Motz, a Berlin newspaper, a small group of esteemed Berlin fashion designers (Firma, Mongrels, Blush, Liebig) and several homeless individuals (from left to right: Carlos, Kiki, Verena, Stefan). The result? Motz Haute Couture “Survival Collection Autumn/Winter 2014/2014.
The collection features a line of outerwear pieces made entirely from newspaper clippings. Extremely innovative, we see coat designs such as; a knee length coat containing slits resembling fringe, a double-breasted piece with decorative pink lapels and matching belt and my favorite item; a wide lapelled double-breasted trench coat.
Verena in Blush, Carlos in Firma, Kiki in Mongrels in Common, Stefan in Liebig with Mongrels in Common designers Christine and Livia at the launch of ‘motz Haute Couture’ (‘Survival Collection Autumn/Winter 2013/14″) by “Motz”, a Berlin newspaper edited and sold by the homeless, in cooperation with leading Berlin fashion designers , Berlin, December 18, 2012
In no way is this collection considered to be “ready to wear” however; what a fun way to help the environment keep it “green” and to make a style statement, literally. Fashion or work of art? We’ll let you decide.
